Members of the Class of 1960 met up recently to reminisce about their time at The Cambridgeshire High School for Boys.

Members of the Class of 1960 met up recently to reminisce about their time at The Cambridgeshire High School for Boys.

Over 3 days they visited the school, wandered from Cambridge to Grantchester and back, ate food and drunk a lot. For some it was the first sighting of one another for 56 years. As the photo shows, most (sorry Roger) still had hair and fairly trim physiques. Certainly fit enough for a 3 hour walk.

The party of 8 alumni included:

Sir Kevin Tebbit

A former British civil servant who was assistant private secretary to the Secretary of State for Defence. He served as the first secretary to the UK's delegation to NATO in Brussels between 1979-82.  He was also the Director of the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) and the head of chancery at the British Embassy in Turkey. Retired between Cotswolds and London.

Roger Tidman

Award-winning wildlife photographer who has had his photographs published in books, magazines, calendars and promotional material. His work has taken him to destinations all around the world including Antarctica, China and Peru. Shutting between Kent and North London.

Professor David Gadbsy, FRS

Cell physiologist at Rockefeller University. He has received a number of awards including the Cole Award of the Biophysical Society and a MERIT award from the National Institutes of Health in 1998 and elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 2005. Shuttling between NYC and Cape Cod.

Duncan Collins

A founder of Mazda Cars UK, he went on to lead the government’s work in raising the competitiveness of UK small businesses from 21st to 7th place internationally between 1988 and 2010. He now heads a business that has designed Artificial Intelligence to make consultancy advice available to the world’s smallestbusinesses. Shuttling between Richmond and Maida Vale.

His granddaughter also attended the school and is in year two at Royal Holloway where she was last year’s mathematics prize-winner. Duncan’s brother John was also a pupil, leaving in 1970.

Bob Edson

A marine engineer, retired in Norfolk

Gregg Cummins

John Brewin

Merrion (Plum) Hughes

The reunion weekend was a wonderful occasion to reminice about their time at the School and an excellent opportunity to rekindle their friendship.
